A MOTHER and baby clothing store based in Stroud will again be collecting clothes for a charity campaign this month.

JoJo Maman Bebe, located in the Five Valleys Shopping Centre (formerly Merrywalks) will be collecting for the 'From a Mother to Another' charity initiative, until March 22.

The charity initiative aims to reduce the level of clothing waste that ends up in landfill annually.

The campaign will support thousands of children across the UK and Ireland by working with foodbanks in The Trussell Trust’s network and other baby banks.

In doing so, the initiative which began in 2015, has prevented approximately 30 tonnes of clothing waste from reaching landfill, significantly reducing the strain of disposable fashion on the environment.

Stroud residents are invited to bring any good quality, second hand and unwanted baby and children's clothes, in sizes up to six years old, and bring them to the town centre store to donate.

Every year a third of the UK’s clothing - around 350,000 tonnes a year - ends up in landfill.

Sending good quality, little worn hand-me-downs to those in need means they are worn by many more children, extending the clothes lifespan.

Laura Tenison, CEO and founder of JoJo said: “Finding practical solutions to problems is part of the JoJo DNA.

"Saving clothing from landfill and helping those who have crossed the fine line between coping and desperation just makes sense."
