A man was hit by a car in Stonehouse last night.

Residents described seeing a man lying on the ground near the Elm Road junction with the high street, with one commenter saying they were there for 'an hour or more'.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 18:39 to reports of a road traffic collision, reportedly involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.

"We attended with an ambulance and one patient was treated at the scene."
