EXTINCTION Rebellion launched a special group for grandparents this week.
XR Grandparents made their first appearance outside Buckingham Palace on Tuesday afternoon at 4.30pm.
Despite a city-wide police ban on the XR protests, the group of mainly over 60s gathered outside the palace for what was described as "not a protest or an action, but a family friendly photo".
Organisers had invited grandparents to join them in a post on social media.
They wrote: "We have a lot in common. Let’s share our concerns, our ideas, our creativity and whatever wisdom our years have granted us to help safeguard the planet for future generations.
"As grandparents we have a unique opportunity, a responsibility even, to take our place in history, and ensure that there is a history.
"We all understand what a joy and honour it is to become a grandparent and how those gorgeous bouncy little people enrich our lives.
"We love them, and would do anything for them – now’s our chance."
