MORETON-IN-MARSH marathon man Steve Edwards scooped last year’s Sporting Hero award.
Steve has achieved countless world records since running his first marathon aged 18 in 1981.
Twenty-thousand or so miles later he became the first person in the world to run 800 official marathon races with an average finish time of under 3hrs 20mins.
On average he has run a competitive marathon race every 13 days for 30 years and raised more than £25,000 for charities.
In 2016 Steve helped form the North Cotswold Running and Triathlon Club, where he now serves as chairman.
He beat David Durden (Dursley Running Club), Chris Brown (Stroud Athletics Club) to the Pride award. Fittingly, he ran to the stage to accept the prize.
