A man has been charged with assault following an incident in Nailsworth.

Stephen Major, 35 and of Stewarts Mill Lane in Abbeymead was arrested yesterday (Wednesday) after an extensive police search including the assistance of the National Police Air Service (NPAS).

He has been released on conditional bail and is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates Court on Tuesday, May 7.

Residents reported being woken up by the helicopter flying over the Forest Green area at around midnight.

Witnesses also said they saw police officers with dogs in the area at the same time.
