Hundreds of Christians paraded a giant cross through the streets of Stroud as part of an annual Good Friday tradition.
The Walk of Witness saw a procession carry a cross through the town to symbolise when Jesus was forced to carry his cross to Golgotha before being crucified.
After gathering at St Laurence’s Church the cross was paraded down the high street and up to the Sub Rooms.
Revd Simon Howell spoke to the crown on the steps of the Sub Rooms and read a poem he had written as well as a passage from Isaiah 43.
“If you want to know what God looks like look at Jesus but if you really want to know what God looks like look at Jesus on the cross,” he added.
The crown then sung the hymn Were You There before moving to Cornhill Market for a period of worship.
Our photographer Simon Pizzey captured the scenes. Click the gallery above to see the photos.
