Forest Green chairman Dale Vince is hopeful the club will be granted planning permission for their new Eco Park stadium by next month.
The proposed ground next to the A419 near Junction 13 on the M5, had previously featured plans for a £100m green technology business park, which could have been home to 4,000 jobs.
Rovers’ chief feels he’s now seeing light at the end of the lengthy planning tunnel which started in January 2016.
Speaking at a fans forum on Tuesday night, Vince said: "I'm having a meeting with the council (today), where we're going to hold a presentation around Eco Park and a Q&A.
"It's a chance to talk to them about it and dispell a few myths and talk through some of the issues.
"A month after that, the council are planning to have a planning meeting and to make a decision and I believe they are going to recommend it for approval.
"We seem to be pretty close to the end game of the first phase which is to get planning consent."
