PUPILS and staff celebrated the launch of Stroud High’s revamped science block with a special cake in the shape of the school building.
The existing science facility at the girls’ grammar on Beards Lane has been fully refurbished, and two new ‘superlabs’ have been added.
The £1M+ build was officially opened by Dr Michael McEllin, who has been involved with the school for many years, both as a parent and subsequently a volunteer supporting science students.
He said: “I am really delighted that this new science block is here at Stroud High.
“There is still a great under representation of women in science, technology and engineering.
“It’s sad, as these careers give people the best chance to actually change the world.
“Women ask different questions to men and the more women the industry embraces the more change we will see.”
