The plans to reconnect the 'missing mile' of the Stroudwater canal are online for comment.
How Oldbury Brook, just upstream of the buried Westfield Lock at the bottom of the Eastington Flight of locks, will be connected to the A38 has been submitted to Stroud District Council by the Stroud Valleys Canal Company earlier this month.
The section is viewed as a key part of the four mile Phase 1B Cotswold Canals Connected project and replaces the section lost when the M5 was built.
It includes two new locks, a crossing under the M5, two boat mooring basins and a mile of new canal on a new route.
The application comes as preparations to bid for lottery funding for the project in November are well underway.

The deadline for comments is Thursday, March 7.
