BUSSAGE Primary School staged its own version of the popular baking competition The Great British Bake Off.
Children and adults turned into bakers at The Great Bussage Bake Off before putting their cakes before the judges – head teacher Andrew Fergurson, as well as a representative from Hobbs House Bakery and The Lavender Bakehouse and Coffee Shop based in Chalford.
The winners of the event included Liberty Ross with her shortbread cupcakes in the ‘little bakes’ category, Jemela Coventry with her citrus poppy seed cake in the ‘big bakes’ category and Jessica Palfreyman with her creation of Smaug the Dragon as the ‘show stopper’.
There were around 60 entries.
All of the money raised from the event on Sunday, October 11 went towards supporting the school’s PTA.
The day also included children’s workshops provided by The Sugar Craft Shop in Stonehouse and live demonstrations from The Lavender Bakehouse and Coffee Shop who made scones and meringues.
The school was beautifully decorated with flowers donated by Jacaranda Flowers of Nailsworth.
The Beavers from the Eastcombe Friday Colony also got involved by taking care of the tidying up all afternoon, while working towards their ‘help in the community badge’.
A spokesman from the PTA group thanked the community for their support of the event.
