A WORLD famous tradition will be returning to the village of Frampton on Severn next bank holiday Monday, with a new look.
Frampton Elver Eating is being brought back to the village after an absence of four decades, but instead of using elvers, a protected species, a type of Spanish fish will be used.
Bob Roberts, an organiser of the event, said: "We tried using these fish which are made to look like elvers at Frampton Fair last September and people said they could not tell the difference.
"Due to the increasing price and the fact that the elver is a protected species, we are no longer able to use the elver, but at least we have now found a way of bringing the competition back."
There will also be a classic car show, tug of war, maypole dancing, bar and live music from the Frampton Silver Band and Thrill Collins.
All the activities will take place on the renowned Frampton village green, entry and parking is free and gates are open from Midday, with the Elver Eating starting at 4.45pm.
