PERHAPS: “Ooh isn’t this the week that funny smoked seed and nut stall is there? I love their smoked sea salt.”

Or perhaps: “Right I’m going to’ double up on the salted caramel brownie from Fair and Square because last month I only got a slither.”

Or maybe: “Yay. It’s organic lager from Stroud Brewery week”, or then again, “I know we haven’t quite run out of rapeseed oil yet, dear, but Stainswick Farm are only there this week so I want to get a large bottle to make that carrot cake I’ve been on about.”

Based at Shrivenham near Swindon, the farm is run by the Sanderson family.

The golden rapeseed oil is very versatile as it has a subtle nutty taste which is not as overpowering and dominant as olive oil. It is a great asset in the kitchen and can be used for salad dressings, stir fries and baking.

It is grown, pressed and bottled on the family farm.

Going back to the market, they might think: “I’m sure last month there was a new cheese stall on the second Saturday called The Old Cheese Room so they should be there this week.”

Or perhaps: “I’ve been meaning to get a couple of those fantastic bread boards from the Woodchester Cabinet Makers and they are definitely there this week.”

Perhaps maybe: “Hooray, this is Trealy Farm Charcuterie and Donnington Trout week and we’ve got family round on Sunday.”

Or: “I’m going down there early because I want organic green beans and red peppers before they sell out.”

Or even: “I’m already missing the summer. I haven’t had a barbecue for two weeks so I’m going big this Saturday and I’m going to have an early barbecued bacon bap from Adey’s, do my shopping and then get a hot dog like no other from Hinton Marsh to go with my coffee.”

No one will be thinking about the return of Horton’s Honey because they haven’t been mentioned but they return this week with a variety of single flower honeys and candles. Whatever is being thought, what won’t be said is “I wonder if there will be apples?”
