STANDISH residents brewed up a storm and raised £551 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Organisers Rachel Stafford and Heather Llewellyn took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event on Friday, September 26, and 50 people attended.
Ten bakers prepared cakes, which were sold on the day, and coffee was provided as many members of the community lent a helping hand.
Moreton Hill Care Centre in Standish donated a cake.
“People were very generous with donations towards the cake and coffee,” said Rachel.
“We held a coffee morning last year and decided to hold another this year because I don’t think there is a family out there that hasn’t been touched by cancer.
“We could not have done it without all the help we received on the day.”
A book sale was also held and all funds raised went towards the charity.
Residents from the George Pearce House community in Minchinhampton also raised a fantastic £360 at their Macmillan coffee morning – the same amount they raised last year.
While staff from Philip Ford and Son Funeral Directors raised an amazing £481.05 at their event and the SNJ’s own Natalie Button raised £191.55 at her own coffee morning in Inchbrook, Nailsworth.
