FOLLOWING the death of cyclist Alan Knight, 64, in a road traffic collision in Stroud Road Gloucester, his family have now released the following tribute.

"The entire family are heartbroken about the death of Alan, a loving husband to Linda and much beloved father, pampy and great pampy.

"He has been tragically taken from us very suddenly in a way that no-one could have foreseen, while cycling on his paper round, and doing what he loved to do. He relished this hobby which had kept him fit and active over the last four years.

"He was also the family 'handyman', enjoying nothing more than painting, decorating and maintaining all the family's houses, which gave him enormous pleasure.

"Seeing his work all around us gives us great comfort and will serve as a permanent reminder of his much loved presence at the centre of his large extended family.

"We have received numerous messages of condolence from his many friends and one-time colleagues, including at former ICI Fabrics, Brockworth and Honda in Swindon.

"His widow Linda, sons Alan and Daniel, and daughters Vickie and Kelly have lost not only a husband and Dad but also a much loved friend."

Police are continuing to investigate the road traffic collision which took place on the B4072, close to St Barnabas Church, at around 07.00 on 26 September.

Three people have been arrested and bailed and a fourth person is still being sought.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses to make contact, or anyone with information either about the BMW which was seen driving around Gloucester prior to the RTC, or anything else linked to the incident. Call 101 quoting incident no. 35 of 26/9/14.
