NEW monthly stall Katie Crunch Fudge, which makes its delicious fair in Chalford, returns to the market for the second time this Saturday, having had a successful launch at the market in September.
I was away last time so I’m looking forward to sampling some myself – flavours such as crystallised ginger, peanut butter vanilla and sea salt and salted treacle certainly sound tempting.
The Cotswold Curer will be at the market this week too and will be showing off his new “snack stick” range of chorizos and salamis while opposite them in the square will be Jean’s Must Have Muffins.
Another 2014 start up, they will be selling what has become a fabulous and huge range of flavours of muffins, from the ever popular blueberry, chocolate or lemon to the more adventurous cheese and chilli, rhubarb crumble or lime and stem ginger.
This week we are delighted to host the Stroud Woodcraft Folk.
They will have a stall with a variety of things including baked goods, small hand-made craft items and donated good quality books.
They will also have details about the Woodcraft Folk and the two chosen charities they will be donating their takings to.
One of the ‘folk’ will also be playing a battery powered keyboard by the stall.
The Woodcraft Folk is an educational movement for children and young people which aims to develop self confidence and activity in society with the aim of building a world based on equality, friendship, peace and co-operation. It is part of the national and international Woodcraft movement.
The aim is to have fun but also to develop self-confidence and make children more aware of society around them.
Finally, there will be an EU-funded survey being carried out at the market, specifically focussed on cheeses.
Interviewers are looking for fans of single Gloucester cheese (we have Jonathan Crump and Godsell’s available this week) to complete a three to five minute survey and of those they would like up to 10 members of the public to join them for a focus group during the week, with a local food supper provided.
Not bad heh? Now where is that survey team . . ?
