THE last week of September promises the last of the summer weather.
Autumn is expected to hit the county by the end of the week and as someone who is a huge fan of a new winter coat, hats, scarves and pumpkin flavoured everything I can’t wait for the return of crisp October mornings.
To prepare you for the week here are five things you need to know on the last Monday of September.
1. For all you Rugby fans out there, today is the last day to register to buy tickets for the Rugby World Cup next year. Kingsholm stadium in Gloucester is due to host teams from Tonga, Japan, Georgia and the USA. Maybe this will mean another visit to the county by Barack Obama?
2. Welcome to Gloucestershire? There have been calls for a more joined up approach in attracting tourists to the county -similar to the Welcome to Yorkshire example. Do we need an established Gloucestershire brand?
3. The Cheltenham Literature Festival starts on Friday. To find out what’s on and where to go click here.
4. Chancellor George Osborne is expected to shift focus to the economy when he addresses the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham today. He is due to discuss pensions and the so called ‘death tax’.
5. And finally for all you golf fans – Europe has retained the Ryder Cup.
