THE chef at the Bell Inn at Sapperton has been banned from driving for 15 months after crashing his car into a wall while over the drink drive limit.
Kevin Moore, aged 35, pleaded guilty to drink driving and driving without insurance at Stroud Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
Moore, who address was given as the Bell Inn, Sapperton, had 58 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath.
The court heard that police were alerted to an abandoned Renault Megane on an unclassified road in Sapperton which was embedded in a wall just after 2am on Wednesday, August 20 .
The owner of the vehicle was identified as Moore, who had abandoned the vehicle after the crash to take his girlfriend, who had been a passenger, to hospital, the court heard.
Moore told the court it had been a ‘moment of madness’.
“I am deeply ashamed,” he added.
Besides the disqualification, Moore was also ordered to pay a £600 fine, £85 in costs and a £40 victim surcharge.
