A CHARITY stall at the Shambles Market on Saturday raised more than £1,200 to pay for life-saving therapy for former Stroud nurse, Tessa Elam.
The stall, which was organised by Maud Lomberg, who used to live next door to Tessa in Minchinhampton, attracted not only dozens of donations beforehand, but hundreds showed up on the day to show their support.
Maud, the founder of Beyond France, a Cirencester-based business which sells homespun fabrics and vintage linen, donated all of the proceeds to the fund for Tessa’s cancer treatment.
Grandmother Tessa, 72, is currently in Tijuana, Mexico receiving treatment for a rare form of liver cancer.
The total cost of the eight-week treatment is £60,000, and her immediate family has raised a total of £22,000.
An appeal launched by the SNJ has managed to raise more than £600 in donations, plus the donations made to Tessa’s fundraising website, and the money from the stall has raised nearly £5,000.
There is still a long way to go so please continue to donate either at gofundme.com/help-Tessa-beat-cancer or by dropping off donations to the SNJ office.
