HUNDREDS of revellers enjoyed free music from more than 150 acts while soaking up the last rays of summer sunshine at this year's Stroud Fringe Festival.

In one big celebration of Stroud's musical talent, an eclectic mix of artists from folk singers to alternative metal bands performed across two outdoor stages and 12 indoor venues.

As always, the event captured the imaginations of young and old alike, with a veritable smorgasbord of musical styles and genres catering to everyone's tastes.

Among those entertaining crowds in Bank Gardens on the flagship main stage were George Montague, Hot Feet, Thee Ones, Boat To Row, Gaz Brookfield, Novella Noise, Canary Swing and Chloe Foy.

There was also a blues stage at Cornhill and music at Sugar nightclub, Kitsch, Bar Greyhound, the Prince Albert, the Crown and Sceptre, Golden Fleece, Star Anise Cafe, Queen Victoria, the Ale House, the Black Book Cafe and the Sub Rooms.

Freddie Whittaker, one of the fringe organisers, said: "Money is tight these days, so while our efforts and core funding from the town council was used to make the most of our outdoor areas and marketing, Stroud's venues did us proud in providing even more variety across town."
