POLICE are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in a shop in Gloucester.

The incident happened at a newsagents in Calton Road between 5.40am and 5.45am on Saturday, August 31.

A member of staff was approached from behind by a man who demanded money.

The victim turned around and the offender, who was wearing a yellow mask, struck him on the head and arm with a stick, inflicting a cut and bruises.

Finally the offender left the store empty handed.

He approached the shop one more time and then walked away again, heading along Ladysmith Street towards Rosebery Avenue.

The robber is described as a white male, around 17 to 20 years old, 5ft 10ins tall and of slight build.

The mask is described as being made of yellow, thin plastic, covering all the face.

It may have had a black nose, eyes and downturned mouth.
