A FESTIVAL showcasing the talents of Nailsworth artists takes place next weekend at St George’s Church.

Watercolour paintings, photography, 3D art, stained glass and ceramics are just some of the techniques that will be on show at the Nailsworth Art Festival on Saturday, September 7, and Sunday, September 8.

More than 30 professional and amateur artists will exhibit their work along the aisles with many items available to purchase.

Organiser Martin Stone said: "Nailsworth people are very well known for their talents, whether that be sport, music or the arts.

"The church is a vast space to show off what Nailsworth can do on the artistic front.

"Art is very much a personal thing and we are sure that there will be something for everyone."

The event is being held to raise money for St George’s Church and the Cotswold Care Hospice.

Visitors will be able to take a tour of the church and see its famous Heywood mural and also the recent A Last Supper behind the communion table created by Lorna May Wadsworth.

A preview evening, which includes wine and canapés, takes place at 6pm on Friday, September 6.

Tickets are £7.50 available from Shiny Goodness and the Cotswold Care Hospice shop in Fountain Street.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 5pm on the Saturday and Sunday with light refreshments throughout the day as well as lunch, which will be served in the parish room from noon to 2pm.

Entry is £2.50 and all proceeds will go to the church and the hospice.

"We hope lots of people will pop in and see this wonderful new exhibition, supporting local artists who in turn are supporting two important local institutions," said Martin.
