SPECIALIST officers were called to Shelley Road in Cheltenham yesterday evening (August 27) to reports of a man carrying a gun.
The 999 call came in shortly before 7pm, Tuesday and reported that a man was carrying what looked like a gun and that he was walking out of the area.
Officers quickly attended and arrested a 68-year-old Cheltenham man in Shakespeare Road.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm/imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. He was later bailed to return to the police station on September 12.
A weapon was recovered by officers and is believed to a cap gun.
No one was injured.
Witnesses to the incident that haven't yet spoken to the police are asked to call Gloucestershire Police on 101 quoting incident number 395 of August 27.
