CONSTITUENTS and Conservative Party members enjoyed cocktails and cupcakes at a party held to mark the opening of Neil Carmichael’s new Nailsworth office.
The Tory MP moved his base of operations from Stroud to 7 Bridge Street, Nailsworth last month as part of a plan to rotate his office around the different parts of his constituency during his term as MP.
On Thursday, he was joined by around two dozen Tory councillors, party activists and members of the public for the party and special ceremony, which saw Nailsworth mayor Myles Robinson officially open the new premises.
The constituency office, which is decorated with pictures taken by Neil during his trip to the Antarctic, will be staffed between 9am and 5pm and will become the new home for the MP’s surgeries.
Speaking at the opening, Cllr Robinson, said: "I would like to welcome Neil to Nailsworth and wish him the very best for the future."
Neil said: "I am delighted to have moved to Nailsworth. It is very important that we have an office which is accessible, visible, friendly and efficient.
"We have already held surgeries in here and it is proving a great place to meet and greet constituents and people from further afield."
