A 32-YEAR-OLD man is alleged to have produced a gun after being harassed by a group of youths.

Gloucester Crown Court was told on Friday that Aaron Pugh was 'under extreme provocation' and 'at his wits end' when he allegedly produced a firearm with intent to cause fear to a group of youths.

Pugh, of Lyneham Drive, Kingsway, Quedgeley is accused of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

Prosecutor Janine Wood said there was clear CCTV evidence showing Pugh with a weapon.

Judge William Hart said: "This is a case of him being under extreme provocation, isn't it? His case is that he did this because he was at his wits end."

Paul Trotman, for the defence, said: "He says he has had considerable harassment from local youths.

Ironically, he says that because of this incident the police are now getting involved."

Judge Hart adjourned the case until September 6, telling Pugh it was important for the legal status of the weapon to be determined.

It was currently not clear if it was classed as a firearm or an imitation firearm, he said.

No plea was entered as the legal status of the gun has yet to be confirmed.
