I learned today of his death with great sadness. I too am a Charing Cross graduate. I was a GP in Bristol for many years after qualification and some further study. I spent my "GP Attachment" in Stroud with Roy for a month in September/October 1970. I still remember some of his teaching and some of the house calls we made. I was very impressed with his knowledge and with his whole approach to his work, and it was probably he who inspired me to go into General Practice. I have a dear friend who has worked as a Nurse in Stroud, so I have followed his campaigning adventures in the Stroud newspapers over the last 40 years. One would have been fortunate indeed to be one of his patients. My condolences to Marion and to the family - one of whom I recall is a namesake of mine!

Deepest sympathy to all the family. He was the best doctor Stroud has Ever had. He saved my life when I was a young mum, so that I was able to watch my children and grandchildren grow up. R.I.P
