THE combined technological, organisational and temporal gremlins have been hard at work and their concerted efforts have sadly put paid to our plans for this year’s Five Valleys Folk Award. But don’t despair! We are still running the competition, but in a slightly different format. We are now asking for submissions from Gloucestershire based artists, which will be assessed by our panel of experts, and the final six invited to a live final in the Sub Rooms on October 18. The winners that night will be guaranteed a place in next year’s Folk Festival and the possibility of a gig at the Sub Rooms or Bristol Folk Festival in between times.
Artists’ submissions should be sent either as CD or via online link to Paul McLaughlin, General Manager, Stroud Subscription Rooms, George Street, Stroud, Glos GL5 1AE

Closing date October 8.
