Longford Res........3
Alkerton Rangers...1
AFTER an excellent display at leaders Minchinhampton, the contrast in Alkerton’s performance at Longford was palpable.
It all started so brightly for Kev Bond’s side as they took the lead on eight minutes. Scott Hindshaw fed Dan Robinson and Steven Morgan lashed an unstoppable shot beyond the home custodian. A free header from a corner enabled Longford to restore parity after 24 minutes.
Rangers thought they had gone in front for a second time shortly afterwards but Tom Haines’ header was ruled out by an offside flag.
From then it was all downhill for the Snakey Lane outfit, and an unchallenged breakaway saw Longford take the lead just before the break.
On 53 minutes poor defending from a long throw saw Rangers fall further behind.
