FOREST Green boss Ady Pennock is set to recall Danny Coles for the trip to Torquay on Saturday.
Experienced defender Coles was a surprise omission from a much-changed Rovers side, who spluttered to a 1-1 draw with Eastleigh on Tuesday.
“Danny didn’t make the subs bench,” said Pennock. “He has been absolutely fantastic for us and will be ready for Saturday.”
Having made seven team changes, Pennock is expected to also hand starts to Marcus Kelly, Rob Sinclair and James Norwood at Plainmoor.
Pennock defended his decision to tinker with the team and has great faith in his squad.
“I believe in the squad and every single player we’ve got here, and that’s why I changed the team,” said Pennock.
“They have all had a go and there were some good performances, and I would be more than happy to put anybody in.”
Pennock cut a frustrated figure after James Constable snatched an 85th minute point for Eastleigh to cancel out Clovis Kamdjo’s strike.
He felt his side should have seen the game out.
“We should have seen the game out,” said Pennock “ We scored a goal and sat back and invited them on and I think we had five or six players on Sam Russell’s toes.”
The former Stoke City coach is pleased with progress in his year at the helm, but is looking to kick-on and turn Rovers into a “proper” football club.
“I want us to be a proper football club and I didn’t think that was the case when I first came here.
“The foundations are being set and it will be interesting to see where we are in another year’s time.
“A stat came out the other day that showed we’re 11 points better off and 10 places higher than this time last year,” said Pennock.
“The average crowd is also 30 per cent up, so it can’t have been a bad year.
“I’d like to thank all the players who have been with me for the whole year, the fans and the chairman for the fantastic support he has given me.
“They have all had a go and there were some good performances, and I would be more than happy to put anybody in.”
