FOREST Green boss Ady Pennock has named former Bristol Rovers and Newport County goalkeeper Glyn Jones as his new goalkeeping coach.
The former Newport Academy Director replaces Kevin Phillips who parted company with the club after Saturday's FA Cup victory at Gloucester City.
The 55-year-old has been in charge of the County youth set-up for the past 17 years and has helped the likes of Nathan Davies, Andrew Hughes and Lee Evans through to the first team.
Jones also guided the careers of young stars like Roger Freestone and Darren Peacock when the old Newport County were last a Football League club in the 1980s.
Born in Newport, Jones played in goal for his home town club in 1983/84 after spells at Bristol Rovers, Shrewsbury Town, Gloucester City and Forest Green.
He also served County as coach and caretaker manager and has worked as a coach for the Wales Schools under 18s squad.
First team goalkeepers, Sam Russell, Steve Arnold and Paul White have begun working with Jones this week in preparation for Saturday’s Vanarama Conference clash with Lincoln City.
