A ROAD in Stroud has been closed and homes are without power after a car hit a pole carrying electricity cables.
The incident happened on Farmhill Lane at around 1.30pm this afternoon.
Initially 78 homes were left without power, but National Grid engineers have been working hard to make repairs, and now 17 homes currently have no electricity. Engineers estimate that this will be restored by midnight this evening.
A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said: "Police were called today (Friday 13 January) at 1.25pm to a report that a single vehicle had collided with a power cable pole on Farmhill Lane, Stroud.
"Utility companies have been made aware.
"The road currently remains closed."
