With two weeks left to go on the new library strategy consultation, Gloucestershire County Council has spoken to 2,400 people from many different areas and backgrounds, and is urging more people to have their say.
The six week public consultation into the new library strategy ends on March 11th and anyone who hasn’t already commented is being urged to submit their views, via: An online survey available at www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/libraries2012 Paper survey available in all libraries Emailing comments to libraries2012@gloucestershire.gov.uk Anyone requiring support to fill in the questionnaire can visit their local library for help.
People have shared their feedback so far by filling in a questionnaire online, in a library and over the phone in a random telephone sample of 1,000 people which continues until consultation closes.
Another 1,000 consultation forms and letters have been sent to randomly selected library users, inviting them to give their views.
Many people have also given their views in person at a series of fifteen roadshows across the county, which ended yesterday.
The council has been extremely pleased with the response from the public since the consultation started.
Jo Grills, the county council’s Operations Director for Education, Learning and Libraries, said: ‘Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to tell us their views or visit us at one of our roadshows.’ ‘Lots of roadshow visitors took questionnaires away with them. If you picked one up please make sure you complete it and send it back by 11th March.’ ‘While the roadshows have finished, there’s still plenty of time for people to take part in the consultation – online or in any library.’ ‘We want as many people as possible to take part.’ ‘I’d encourage anyone who hasn’t commented so far to do so before the deadline.’ See www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/libraries2012 for more details.
