A PLAY AREA which has been revamped and had new equipment installed was officially opened on Friday.

The new £65,000 playground funded by Minchinhampton Parish Council offers inclusive play experiences for all ages up to 12 and an inviting, social and fun space for local children.

The works included installation of new equipment and the complete renovation of The Horsfall Playground (formerly known as the Box Lane Playground)

It was officially opened by the chair of the parish council, Cllr Nick Hurst, Kate Charsley (daughter of the founder of Horsfall House), and local resident Rachel Lenane-Young, on Friday, March 15.

A council spokesperson said: "The local community has worked together and put a huge amount of effort into making this project a reality, and the council is looking forward to seeing the completed area being used and enjoyed for years to come.

"Special thanks go to local resident Ms Lenane-Young for her time, effort and enthusiasm on behalf of local families to ensure this project went ahead.

"Sincere thanks also go to the landowner Horsfall House for allowing continued use of their land, and for their co-operation and flexibility in allowing the addition of a second, accessible gate.

"The council also thanks residents for their patience whilst the improvements were carried out."

Ms Lenane-Young said: “I’m delighted that Minch Parish Council chose to resource the renovation of this community space.

"We’ve worked hard to make it as accessible and inclusive as possible, and I hope that all the families of Minch get great pleasure out of using the play area.”
