POLICE ARE asking motorists to ensure they are driving to the weather conditions as snow falls across Gloucestershire this morning (Saturday).

The county has awoken to snow in areas such as the Forest of Dean, Dursley, M5 and Cotswolds due to a Met Office yellow weather warning that’s in place for this morning.

Poor weather conditions can lead to collisions on the county’s roads and the possibility of being stranded.

Gloucestershire County Council updates its website as often as possible regarding road closures in the county and you can visit this here: https://orlo.uk/xsnN0

If you’re on Twitter/X you can instead visit:

1) Glos Roads- https://orlo.uk/eyFBH

2) National Highways England South West - https://orlo.uk/F7Xzu

Please only call 999 in an emergency and refrain from calling police on 101 to ask about road closures or whether roads are clear, as this stops their call handlers from dealing with other incidents.

If you need to contact them for a non-emergency you can do this online using our website: https://orlo.uk/nS5Tm

Police urge people to drive safely and sensibly to the conditions of the road.

If you need to travel, please ensure that your vehicle is roadworthy - you have a fully charged mobile phone, warm clothing, suitable shoes, a blanket and food and drink.
