ROADWORKS in Cashes Green which are due to last three weeks, start tomorrow.

The first phase will include three way traffic lights across the junction of Hyett Road and Cashes Green Road from Monday, February 26 to Friday, March 1.

The next phase will include a three week road closure on Hyett Road from Friday, March 1 to Friday March 22.

Gloucestershire County Council Highways say the works are 'essential' to prevent future flooding in the area.

Drainage work on Cashes Green Road was previously carried out by GCC in July last year and caused traffic chaos.

A letter to residents reads: “On behalf of Gloucestershire County Council, we will shortly be undertaking essential drainage work here to prevent future flooding in the area.

“To ensure the safety of road users and our workforce, it is necessary for us to utilise the use of a road closure due to the machinery that will be in use for this scheme of works.

“Local access to frontages on Hyett Road will be restricted during the closure due to the nature of works and safety.

“We have planned the work so we can be in and out as quickly as possible and we appreciate your cooperation.

“Thank you in advance for your patience and co-operation.

“If you have any queries, please call us on 08000 514514.”
