ROADWORKS across Stroud town centre are set to begin this week.

Pitted-surfaces in George Street, King Street and Russell Street are set to be transformed as part of an ongoing £100 million countywide programme of roadworks.

Drivers are being warned that full road closures will be in place – the roads will be closed between 7pm and 7am for six nights from Friday, January 19 until Friday, January 26 (excluding weekends).

The High Street will also be closed to traffic during the same period.

A Gloucestershire County Council spokesperson previously told the SNJ: "This work will greatly improve these road surfaces, so all road users can enjoy smoother and safer journeys.

"There will be full road closures in place to enable the works to be completed as quickly as possible."
