ROADWORKS are due to start again on a key road in Stroud tomorrow.

Gloucestershire Highways say they are carrying out more repairs on Stratford Road.

Works are scheduled to take place from tomorrow, Tuesday, January 2 to Thursday, January 4.

According to Gloucestershire County Council’s website, an unspecified system of “traffic control” will be enforced but the road will remain open.

It comes after the council closed the road in late October and early November, which resulted in traffic gridlock across the area.

At the time a GCC spokesperson apologised to residents for the disruption.

Elsewhere, works are also due to take place on the nearby A46 Painswick Road from Tuesday, January 2 to Thursday, January 4.

A GCC spokesperson said: “Between January 2 and January 4, we will be carrying out essential streetlight works on Stratford Road and Painswick Road to repair two faults which have been identified.

"The road will remain open but will be down to an alternate one-way system past the works.

"We would like to thank road users and residents for their co-operation and patience whilst we carry out these works.”
