A COUNCILLOR has shared their delight after planned Christmas roadworks near Stroud have been postponed.

Works had been due to take place in the lead-up to Christmas between Nailsworth and Lightpill.

However, the proposed tree work has been postponed.

Steve Robinson, Gloucestershire County Councillor for Nailsworth, shared his delight after requesting that these works would be postponed until after the busy Christmas period.

He said: "With so many businesses struggling at this time, it was certainly not a good idea to close the A46 for 4days in the lead up to Christmas.

"I was extremely pleased that the County Council took on board my request to postpone the work."

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire County Council said: “The county council’s highways teams always aim to minimise disruption to businesses and residents.

"In this case a quick decision was made to postpone tree work between Nailsworth and Lightpill during the busy Christmas period.”
