A SECTION of a key Stroud road has been closed for a week due to urgent repairs.

Gloucestershire Highways are currently carrying out emergency drainage repairs in Stratford Road at the corner by the Tesco Superstore. 

The closure, which started yesterday, Monday, October 30 is due to stay in place 24/7 until 8am on Monday, November 6. 

They are in the Gloucestershire County Council's red zone, meaning delays are likely. 

It is understood there is no closure on the footpath next to the road. 

A statement from Gloucestershire Highways reads: "Stratford Road #Stroud - Road closure will remain in place from October 30 to November 6. 

"24/7 closure inc of weekends for emergency drainage repairs.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause."
