STROUD farmer Ellie Dangerfield was disappointed in the last week of August when her sunflowers hadn’t flourished as expected and the munching of the local deer had not helped, writes Simon Pizzey.
Then came the September sunshine and the spirit of van Gogh has been resurrected at Wick Street Farm.
Like many farms, besides their usual beef and sheep enterprise, they have had to diversify.
This Saturday (September 9) from 10am to 5pm the sunflower patch will be open for visitors who can pick their own.
All can enjoy refreshments at the Wagon in the Wild Cafe, including home-made cream teas (if booked in advance through the website) Along with Jim’s Scotch Eggs!
There will be an area where children can draw the flowers, dogs on a leads are welcome and weather permitting you can meet the donkeys too.
An entrance fee applies.
