A CANALSIDE cafe in Stroud is due to shut this weekend.

The Lock Keeper's Cafe in Wallbridge which overlooks the canal has been put on the market.

Owner Harry Counsell who also runs two pubs - The Clothiers Arms and Bowbridge Arms - announced in a statement that the cafe is set to shut on Sunday (January 15).

“It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to put The Lock Keeper's Cafe up for sale,” he said.

“I have loved bringing this cafe back to life but I just do not have the time to give what this cafe deserves.

“The pubs take up all my time and energy, so it’s time to give someone else the opportunity to run a fantastic cafe in an idyllic location.

“We will be closing our doors on Sunday, January 15 at 3pm.”
