IN 1989 this first community event was organised for the villages of Chalford, Brimscombe and Thrupp.
Over the years in excess of £100,000 has been raised for local charities.
This year the fête will be celebrating its 27th anniversary and the theme is ‘Carnival’ - in order to celebrate the Olympics in Rio.
The day (Saturday, May 21) will start at 10.45am with the choosing of the May Queen.
She will lead a procession, along with a parade of youngsters from Thrupp School dressed for a carnival, around the field after the official start at 11am.
Sophie Lydia Smith – Cheltenham Beauty Queen 2014/15 will set off the balloons.
The many attractions throughout a jam packed day include vintage bikes and cars, dog agility, Ambitions Street Dance and Aziza of Cheltenham Belly Dancers.
There will also be a fun fair, auction, raffle, bungee run, go karts, a tea tent, an all-day bar and a huge food court.
Competitions include the best juggler, town crier, jam doughnut eating as of course, tearing up Argos catalogues.
There are also prizes for the most beautiful baby.
In the canine competition, there are prizes up for grabs for the dog with the waggiest tail, the shiniest coat and the most appealing puppy eyes.
In order to celebrate the theme “Carnival” organsiers are asking children to decorate bunting triangles which will be displayed in the Tea Tent.
