A KEY STROUD road has reopened after a closure.
Stratford Road near the Tesco Superstore was shut last week with Gloucestershire Highways team carrying out "emergency drainage repairs".
The closure has been in place for almost two weeks, since Monday, October 30, and was due to reopen on Monday, November 6.
However, works were delayed by a week due to “weather and onsite complications” and the reopening delayed.
It reopened yesterday, Friday, November 10 in the afternoon.
The closure has caused traffic chaos on surrounding roads, which many drivers have labelled a "nightmare” on social media.
Multiple bus services have also been significantly delayed due to congestion.
Gloucestershire County Council had apologised for the disruption.
A GCC spokesperson said: “We would like to apologise to residents for any inconvenience caused by the closure of Stratford Road.
“We were investigating the source of a suspected blockage in the drainage pipework, which caused a hole to appear in the carriageway during extreme rainfall recently."
